Japan Vice Chair of US-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange as well as a member of US-Japan Educational Commission. Previous posts include Professor, A. Barton Hepburn Professor of American Government and History at the Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo since 2003 to 2020, President of Japanese Association for American Studies in 2016-18, Japan Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (2014), invited Professor at SciencesPo in Paris (2009), Georgetown University (1998-99), the University of Maryland (1998-99) Japan Scholar at Woodrow Wilson International Center (2014), the Johns Hopkins University (1991-93), Visiting Scholar/Fellow at Cornell University (1984-86). B.A. and Ph.D., University of Tokyo. Joined NPI in 2018.
